Frequently Asked Questions
-
Why is your milk labeled for pets only and not for human consumption? Our milk is sold raw, meaning it’s not pasteurized and may contain dangerous bacteria that can make people sick. It is recommended that raw milk is brought up to a temperature of 72 degrees Celsius (161 F) for at least 15 seconds and then cool quickly and store in clean glass jars. While we take precautions to ensure our milk is collected and stored safely, it has not been inspected by the environmental health department.

What specialized services do you offer outside of inspected cuts?Farm gate sales are allowed with a prior agreement and the sale is of a live animal. This usually entails the purchase of the entire animal. Current approved methods of processing in a licensed facility only allow for the skinning of the animal, and the meat is sold without the skin. The head can only be kept if the animal was dispatched by a captive bolt. Only certain internal organs are allowed for consumption. Our farm gate sales can allow for skin on processing, typically done by fur torching the animal before evisceration. Farm gate sales also allow you to keep all the parts of the animal if you wish.

What does "Inspected" cuts mean?Meat sold by the pound that is already cut and wrapped must be slaughtered and further processed in a licenced facility where the animal has been approved by a licensed meat inspector.
